Dr. Akosua Obuo Addo is an Associate Professor of Music Education at the University of Minnesota. With over 20 years of teaching experience, her research focuses on international education and collaborative, comparative studies of music play. She teaches elementary music methods to music and non-music majors and supervises student teachers. At the graduate level, she instructs courses in qualitative research in arts education, African Music in the Classroom, and thesis supervision. Before joining the University of Minnesota, Dr. Addo was an assistant professor at the University of Connecticut and held research and administrative roles in the UK, including a postdoctoral fellowship at Roehampton Institute and work at City University, London. Prof. Isaac Richard Amuah is a distinguished Ghanaian musicologist and Professor of Music Education at the University of Cape Coast. Renowned for his pioneering leadership, he served as the founding Chair of the Theatre Programme and introduced Dance Studies to the university’s Department of Music and Dance. Prof. Amuah’s research spans music education, philosophy of music, and music psychology, and he is co-author of the most definitive book on the history of music education in Ghana. As a former Dean of International Relations, he advanced the university’s global academic partnerships. He is widely recognized for his advocacy in documenting and preserving indigenous Ghanaian musical traditions, and his influence is evident in national curriculum development and policy.
